Chicago, Ill. – Third Coast Underwriters (3CU) announced today it is expanding its innovative risk management solutions to the agribusiness segment. This new appetite covers commercial agribusiness operations from the farm through the first processor, including supporting input and output providers.

Additionally, 3CU has hired Bill Simonson, a 22-year insurance veteran with considerable experience in agribusiness, as its new regional director. Simonson has multi-line insurance experience as a middle market field manager and underwriting manager, working primarily with brokers and agents in the Midwest and Southeast. He earned his Certified Insurance Counsel (CIC) designation and Agribusiness Farm Insurance Specialist (AFIS) designation and holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Kent State University.

“Third Coast Underwriters is well positioned to focus on customers with complex operations and challenging exposures that require unique workers’ compensation solutions,” said Mike Valiante, vice president, Production and Agency Management. “And, we’re excited to have Bill lead this effort. His extensive background and understanding of the unique agribusiness niche market will help 3CU deliver customized solutions to all our business partners.”

Agribusiness operations within this portfolio include larger-type risks ($150,000 premium minimum) in farming/ranching operations, agriculture processing, agricultural distribution/transportation and agriculture supplier/services. Using its individual account servicing model, the 3CU team will conduct a thorough assessment of a business operation and risk, and design a customized workers’ compensation program utilizing its industry experts in claims, loss control and underwriting.
